FAQs — LessonCreator
Getting Started
What is LessonCreator?+

LessonCreator is an AI-powered platform built specifically for Australian teachers. You describe what you want students to learn — your learning intention — and LessonCreator generates complete, curriculum-aligned teaching resources on demand: lesson plans, PowerPoint slides, worksheets, quizzes, cloze activities, crosswords, and more.

Unlike resource libraries of pre-made content, everything is generated fresh for your specific topic, year level, and subject — so it actually matches what you're teaching.

Do I need to create an account to use LessonCreator?+

Yes — a free account gives you access to the full lesson creator and unit planner, with 5 complete lessons per week at no cost. You can sign up at lessoncreator.com.au. No credit card required.

What's the difference between the free tier and Plus?+

Free tier gives you 5 complete lessons per week, full access to the unit planner, and all resource types. It resets weekly and is designed to let you properly evaluate the platform before committing.

LessonCreator Plus ($10/month AUD) removes all limits — generate as many lessons and resources as you need, with no weekly cap. Plus subscribers also get access to the Resource Creator, which lets you generate individual resources without going through the full lesson wizard.

Can I use LessonCreator on my phone or tablet?+

Yes. LessonCreator works in any modern browser on desktop, tablet, and mobile. The interface adapts for smaller screens with a mobile-friendly layout.

Australian Curriculum Alignment
Is LessonCreator aligned to the Australian Curriculum v9.0?+

Yes. LessonCreator is built around AC v9.0 (the current version of the Australian Curriculum). When you enter your subject, year level, and learning intention, the platform can automatically identify the relevant learning area and align generated resources to the appropriate content descriptions and achievement standards.

You can also manually select specific AC descriptors to include in your lesson, which are then embedded in the generated lesson plan and used to inform the content of other resources.

Which learning areas are supported?+

LessonCreator supports all eight learning areas of the Australian Curriculum:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS — including History, Geography, Civics and Citizenship, Economics and Business)
  • Health and Physical Education
  • The Arts (Drama, Music, Visual Arts, Media Arts, Dance)
  • Technologies (Digital Technologies, Design and Technologies)
  • Languages
Which year levels are supported?+

LessonCreator supports Foundation through Year 12. All resources are generated with your selected year level in mind — language complexity, question difficulty, and content depth all adjust accordingly.

Does LessonCreator support state-based syllabuses like QCAA?+

Currently LessonCreator aligns to the Australian Curriculum v9.0, which underpins most state syllabuses for Foundation–Year 10. Support for senior secondary syllabuses — including QCAA subjects for Years 11–12 — is on the roadmap.

Does the AI understand the difference between AC learning areas and specific subjects?+

Yes. When you type your subject (e.g. "History" or "Civics"), LessonCreator automatically maps it to the correct AC learning area (Humanities and Social Sciences) for curriculum alignment purposes. You can also manually select the learning area if the auto-detection doesn't match your context.

Resources & Tools
What types of resources can LessonCreator generate?+

LessonCreator can generate the following resources:

  • Lesson Plan — Full lesson arc with timings, learning intentions, success criteria, activities, and teacher notes
  • PowerPoint — Teaching slides with topic content, discussion prompts, vocabulary, and optional embedded quiz
  • Resource Text — Information sheets, fact files, model essays, narratives, or any written resource
  • Worksheet — Mix of multiple choice, true/false, short answer, extended response, vocabulary matching, and sequencing activities
  • Cloze Activity — Key words or phrases removed from a passage for students to complete
  • Three-Level Reading Guide — Tiered comprehension questions (literal, inferential, and analytical)
  • Blooket Quiz — Game-based quiz exported as a CSV ready to import into Blooket
  • Kahoot Quiz — Quiz exported as an Excel file ready to import into Kahoot
  • Crossword — Printable crossword puzzle generated from your topic or source text
  • Find-a-Word — Word search puzzle generated from your topic or source text
  • Text Analyser — Reading level and complexity analysis of a source text
  • Adjust Reading Level — Rewrites a source text to a different reading level
Can I use my own source text or reading passage?+

Yes. For any resource that requires a source text — worksheets, cloze activities, reading guides, quizzes — you can provide your own content by pasting text directly, uploading a file (PDF, Word, PowerPoint, or TXT), fetching content from a URL, or extracting a transcript from a YouTube video. If you don't provide a source text, LessonCreator will generate one based on your learning intention, subject, and year level.

Can I configure how resources are generated?+

Yes. Each tool has its own configuration options. For example:

  • Worksheets — choose which question types to include (true/false, multiple choice, short answer, extended response, vocabulary matching, sequencing), difficulty level, and whether to include an answer guide
  • PowerPoint — number of slides, theme, text density, whether to include images, vocab slides, discussion prompts, or an embedded quiz
  • Lesson Plan — lesson duration (45–120 minutes), group work, and optional context notes
  • Cloze — number of gaps and which word types to remove
  • Crossword / Find-a-Word — grid size and word source
Do resources include answer guides?+

Yes. Worksheets, cloze activities, reading guides, Blooket quizzes, Kahoot quizzes, crosswords, and find-a-words all include an answer guide toggle in their configuration panel. It's on by default — uncheck it if you want to distribute a student copy only.

What file formats do resources download as?+
  • Lesson Plans — Word document (.docx)
  • PowerPoint — PowerPoint file (.pptx)
  • Resource Text — Word document (.docx)
  • Worksheets, Cloze, Reading Guides, Crosswords, Find-a-Words — Word document (.docx)
  • Blooket Quiz — CSV file (import directly into Blooket)
  • Kahoot Quiz — Excel file (.xlsx, import directly into Kahoot)
  • Text Analyser, Adjust Reading Level — Word document (.docx)

All Word and PowerPoint files are fully editable so you can adjust before printing or sharing.

Can I use a YouTube video as source material?+

Yes. Paste a YouTube URL into the source text field and LessonCreator will extract the video's transcript. The transcript then becomes the source material for any text-dependent resource — worksheets, cloze activities, reading guides, and quizzes. This works with any YouTube video that has captions available.

Can I generate resources directly without building a full lesson?+

Yes. Plus subscribers have access to the Resource Creator tab, which lets you generate any individual resource — a single worksheet, crossword, quiz, or PowerPoint — without going through the full lesson wizard. Just select the resource type, fill in your learning intention, subject, and year level, and hit Create.

Unit Planner
What is the Unit Planner?+

The Unit Planner lets you build a complete teaching unit — typically 5–10 weeks — before generating individual lessons. You define the unit overview, number of weeks, lessons per week, and key teaching focus, and LessonCreator creates a structured sequence of lesson topics and learning intentions across the unit. You can then generate full resources for any lesson directly from the unit plan.

Are unit plans saved to my account?+

Yes. Unit plans and all generated resources are saved to your account and accessible every time you log in. You can also share a unit plan with colleagues using a shareable link, which gives them a read-only view of the unit structure and resources.

PowerPoint & Themes
Can I choose a PowerPoint theme?+

Yes. LessonCreator offers several subject-specific PowerPoint themes including English, Mathematics, Science, HASS, and a default theme. If you don't select a theme, it's automatically chosen based on your subject. All themes use a "vanilla" PowerPoint placeholder system so slides are fully editable in Microsoft Office or Google Slides.

Can I include images in generated PowerPoints?+

Yes. When the images option is enabled, LessonCreator searches for and embeds relevant photos into your PowerPoint slides automatically. You can turn this off in the PowerPoint configuration if you prefer slides without images.

Privacy & Data
Is LessonCreator built for Australian schools?+

Yes. LessonCreator is an Australian product, built from the ground up around the Australian Curriculum. It is operated by an Australian sole trader and designed for use in Australian primary and secondary schools.

Does LessonCreator store student data?+

No. LessonCreator is a teacher-facing tool only. No student names, work, or personal information is collected or stored. The platform only stores teacher account information and saved unit plans and resources.

How much does LessonCreator Plus cost?+

LessonCreator Plus is $10/month AUD. There are no lock-in contracts — you can cancel at any time.

School subscriptions are available — contact us at hello@lessoncreator.com.au for pricing and onboarding. School subscriptions cover all teachers at a site and can include professional development support.

How does the free tier weekly limit work?+

The limit resets on a rolling 7-day basis. You can see how many lessons you've used and when your limit resets in the counter on the lesson creator page.
